Ssireum
Ssireum is a traditional wrestling game. In modern form, the two contestant would wear
a belt around their waist and thigh. One would achieve success by bringing any body
part above the knee of their opponent to the ground. This activity dates as far back
to the Three Kingdom era. Ssireum competitions are traditionally held twice a year, during the Tano Festival(the 5th day of the fifth lunar month) and Chuseok (the 15th day of the 8th lunar month).
Competitions are also held throughout the year as a part of festivals and other events.
