Ancient vs. Modern Korea
In ancient Korea there was the era of the
three kingdoms but today there are North
and South Korea. Today North Korea is a
communist country and South is democratic.
The two countries separated in the 1940's after WWII.
In ancient Korea the city life was much like in
the picture above. Houses were of peeked
rooftops and didn't have much technology.
This is a building in Korea today. It is very
modern and full of unique architectures
and advanced technologies.
What was this civilization famous for ?
Korea was once called the Hermit Kingdom because they isolated
themselves from the rest of the world. They didn't want visitors. They
would sometimes toss shipwrecked sailors ashore on the coast or one
of Korea's many islands.
Now, however, things are different. Today Korea is longing for friendship
from all over the world. The people of Korea are now more than happy to
share ideas and their long history with others.
Would you have wanted to live in this civilization ?
We would not have wanted to live in Ancient Korea, because we wouldn't
have the freedom to do whatever we wanted because of the government system
there was.We probably wouldn't have been lucky enough to have been born
into the royal or noble familie's. Since 75% of the people in ancient
korea were sangmen "commen people" all our life would be spent doing work.
Imagine a life of getting up everday having your little rashen of breakfast and then,
still hungry but have to go to work. The money you make is barely enogh to support you and your
family for food and the common clothing you wear. Life doesn't seem too happy does it? Being
a common person, we wouldn't be able to do as we wished and execept for special currcumstances
our life will be dull and will lack liberty and freedom. Freedom is one of the most wanted and
desired wishes of any human. Another reason why living in Ancient Korea wouldn't be so convenient
is because the technology back then was not as advanced as it is today. We all love
watching t.v. shows, using the internet, haveing portable music, and many more things. The tools that we
have now make jobs more easier and you can cover more work in less time.
These are some reasons why we wouldn't like to live in Ancient Korea.
